Chapter Committees

Coordinating

The OKC DSA Coordinating Committee (CC) is the regular executive body of the Chapter, overseeing implementation of the chapter’s political goals through administrative support, membership development, and liaising with National DSA. The CC consists of 13 elected officers: the Chapter Co-Chairs, Co-Secretaries, Communications Co-Chairs, Treasurer, Immigrant Solidarity Co-Chairs, Political Education Co-Chairs, and Security Co-Chairs. Chairs of local Branches and YDSA chapters may also be members of the Coordinating Committee.

Communications

Responsible for overseeing chapter media platforms, managing the chapter website, developing promotional graphics and designs, and producing chapter merchandise. The Communications Committee coordinates with the Onboarding and Membership Committee to produce and distribute the monthly chapter newsletter.

Onboarding & Membership

Responsible for the overall health and growth of chapter membership by coordinating the outreach, recruitment, and engagement activities of the chapter. The Onboarding and Membership Committee maintains a chapter calendar and coordinates with the Communications Committee to notify the membership of chapter events, meetings, and actions.

Onboarding Committee Goals and Objectives

Responsible for assessing and expanding existing chapter programming to engage working class immigrant communities, diversifying chapter membership and leadership, and translating materials through collaboration with working groups and committees. The Immigrant Solidarity Committee also supports existing working group projects and applies their forms of organizing to immigrant interests and issues.

Responsible for organizing events and discussion spaces meant to expand members’ theoretical, historical, and practical knowledge to better equip them as organizers. In keeping with the “Big Tent” nature of DSA, the Political Education Committee does not endorse a specific socialist tendency above others, encouraging members to compare, contrast, and discuss ideas in a productive and comradely way.

Security

Responsible for evaluating the chapter’s practices related to informational, operational, and physical security and making recommendations for updates to security policy in order to minimize risk to members engaging in chapter work. The Security Committee routinely audits data storage and maintenance practices in order to protect sensitive organizational and personal information, and it provides information to chapter members on ways to organize safely.
